Stuck in the swamp
The hills of Romania is almost impossible to walk. Yet, the competitors ride up those hills like it´s a piece of cake.
After a morning with work we headed off for some adventure in the mountains. Fellow colleagues, blogger Jo & Jo, Vygintas and I got some perfect tracks over the mountains and to Susag. Surprised by a thunderstorm and heavy rain.
Jo got stuck in a swamp.

Prolouge, race day 1
Romaniacs starts with the Prolouge in the heart of Sibiu followed by 4 offroad days in Draculas backyard.

Flying over the handlebars
I got up at 4 this morning and left for my mission. It´s offroad day 2 out of 4 and I need to get to my locations to report with live blog from the race track. A infinite zigzag uphil took Vygintas and me to some killer views on top of a huge mountain ridge.
The ragged lumber road seemd to grab the frontwheel of my bike for a sudden stop while I continued over the handlebars. Head first into the road.
We followed the race track and got to our first location just in time!
Totally broken and again infinite downhill to the bottom of the mountain was another grate test to realize that I need to more muschels for this sport!

To hang out in Sibiu during the Romaniacs is a festival for all who choose to join!
The Prolouge in the heart of Sibiu
The Prolouge is the first test for the riders, but far from the easyest. It includes logs, huge rocks, bridges around trees and wierd obsticles of all kinds.

Lithuanian Vygintas Sivickas is a mix between Arnold Schwarzenegger and Mac Gyver. Together we will ride along the race track with the competitors. My job is to tell a live story from the race and Vygintas will guide me to the right places, we are a good team!
It´s his birthday today! Happy birthday!
A healthy start at the Romaniacs with my dear friend Naomi. The fruit smoothie at the lunch place tasted very well and for some reason we left tha place with big smiles. Nobody told us that they included a good dose of vodka.
Red Bull Romaniacs
Same procedure as last year… as every year.
Off to Sibiu and the kick butt mountains of Draculas backyard. The 11th edition of Red Bull Romaniacs is just a few hours away. The 5 days endyro race that make grown men cry start with the prologue followed by 4 days of offroad.
This is my 4th journey to Romaniacs and I have a “love and fear” relation to the event. Romaniacs puches me way beyond my confort zone. A exiting place to be, most of the time.
